Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, at a dialogue session with German High officials in Abuja on Nigeria’s economic development, spoke on the Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP 2021 – 2025) and Nigeria Agenda 2050, describing them as the country’s home-grown Medium and Long-term National Development Plans developed to succeed the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan [ERGP 2017 – 2020] and Nigeria Vision 2020 respectively. Both plans had ended in December 2020.
The current plans, that have reached advanced stages of preparation, he said envisioned Nigeria being a leading industrializing and reforming nation in Africa, that would focus on building its institutional capacity and capability, as well as, fostering a private sector-led growth to help address the critical issues of job and wealth creation as well as poverty reduction.
He said: “We believe that effective implementation of the MTNDP 2021 – 2025 and Nigeria Agenda 2050, when finally approved, portends a positive and brighter outlook for the Nigerian economy in the medium to long term.”
He shared this and more, on Monday during the dialogue with German high officials on “Economic Development in Nigeria: Perspective Against the Backdrop of the COVID-19 Pandemic”, hosted by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS).
