Director General of the World Trade Organization, WTO, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was at the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning as part of the itinerary of her maiden official visit to Nigeria since stepping in the saddle of leadership at the headquarters of the global trade body in Geneva, Switzerland.
She was received by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed incompany with the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, along with top officials of the ministry.
She took the opportunity of the visit and interactions to express profuse thanks to the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning for clearing arrears of membership and other dues owed by Nigeria and even paying upfront till 2022.
She said it would have been demoralising for her to be contesting in the race with her country being not up to date in payment of membership and other ancillary dues.
Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, also shared his thoughts on how to improve the country’s revenue streams by strengthening the non-oil productive sector of the economy, among other issues.
