Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has described politics as a relationship and not a war.

He said this while fielding questions from newsmen following his appearance at the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential declaration event on Wednesday.

Atiku had, on Wednesday, in Abuja, declared his intention to contest for President in the 2023 general election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

However, Obi, the running mate of Atiku in the 2019 presidential election, who appeared at the event on Wednesday, said there was no form of hostility between himself and the former Vice President.

The former governor, who has since declared his intention to vie for the PDP presidential ticket if the party zones its ticket to the Southern region of the country, further described Atiku as a unifier and good man.

He said: “The reason why I am here is that this is new politics, as you know I play politics differently and to me, politics is not a war, it is a relationship and Atiku is my leader, he is my boss and a senior brother.

“If he invites me for anything I will attend, aspiring does not say I should not keep my relationship that is very cordial and everything.

“I am aspiring but remember I always say it  Atiku Is a unifier, he believes in Nigeria, he is a good man and anytime he invites for anything, I will be there; that notwithstanding I am aspiring I want to serve Nigeria.”

Obi, when asked on the right President to lead the country, said: “We need somebody with capacity, competency, and somebody who can bring the country together, and somebody that will tackle the economy.”
