The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has suspended the Ebonyi State chairman of the party, Okorie Okoroafor.
This was disclosed in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba on Friday.
The party said that Okoroafor was suspended for alleged anti-party activities and violation of provisions of Section 58 (1) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017)
Ologunagba said that the party’s emergency meeting held on January 27, 2023 extensively reviewed the conduct and activities of the Ebonyi State chairman of the Party, Okorie Okoroafor.
The release stated: “Pursuant to Sections 29 (2) (b) and 57(3) of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) the NWC has on behalf of the National Executive Committee approved the suspension of Okorie Tochukwu Okoroafor with effect from today, Friday, January 27, 2023, over allegations of anti-party activities and violation of provisions of Section 58 (1) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).”
He said that Okoroafor had been referred to the party’s appropriate disciplinary committee for further action.
In a related development the party’s spokesperson also in a statement stated that “the NWC on behalf of the National Executive Committee, of the PDP has pursuant to Sections 29(2)(b) and 31(2)(e) of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017), approved the expansion of the Ekiti State Caretaker Committee with Sadiq Obanoyen as chairman of the committee, and Dosu Babatunde as member/secretary.”
Other members listed included Ojoade Fajana, Mrs Adijat Eniola Balogun, Oladimeji Ayodele, Boboye Adekunle, and Lawal Idayat Tosin
Others included Waliu Oladipupo, Erelu Mark, Alade Modupe, Temitope Amerijoye, Akogun Ogunleye, Olugbenga Adewole and Ajibola Samuel
