PDP South-south leader, Orbih, mourns Sir Victor Uwaifo, relives their good times together (+Videos)

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice Chairman, South-south zone, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has relived his good times with his friend and highlife maestro, Sir Victor Uwaifo, who died on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

Uwaifo, aged 80, died from a brief illness.

Orbih in a statement described the death of the Joromi crooner and guitar boy as devastating and diminishing.

The statement read in part: “I received the shocking news of the loss of my friend, a legendary musician and an icon of Benin arts and culture, Prof. Victor Uwaifo.

“Professor Victor Uwaifo, was an illustrious son of Edo state who made us so proud with his music and phenomenal talent which put Edo in the world map of music.

“I pray that God almighty will grant the Uwaifo family, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

In a series of video clips attached to the WhatsApp statement, Orbih is seen dancing while Uwaifo plays and sings.

The occasion was the celebration of the achievements of Uwaifo in music and Benin arts and cultures while the music icon was alive.

The initiative by Orbih to celebrate and honour Uwaifo before his death resonated well with opinion leaders, prominent leaders and well meaning people of Edo State some of whom graced the occasion.
