PDP primary elections: Ex-Jigawa gov wins senatorial ticket

A former governor of Jigawa State, Saminu Ibrahim Turaki, has won Jigawa North-West Senatorial District primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Turaki, who rejoined PDP recently, was the governor of the state from 1999 to 2007.

A former House of Representatives member representing Hadejia/Auyo/ Kafin Hausa Federal Constituency, Hussaini Namadi, was elected as standard bearer of the party for Jigawa North-East Senatorial District seat.

Mustapha Habib, an erstwhile member representing Miga/Jahun Federal Constituency emerged as senatorial candidate for Jigawa South-West.

The three senatorial candidates for the PDP in the state were elected unopposed.

The primary election conducted at Gumel, Hadejia and Dutse were supervised by the officials of the PDP from Abuja and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
