The member representing Esan South-East Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Ojezele Osezua Sunday, on Monday, decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying his return to the party was homecoming.

Sunday, who is a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), officially joined the APC at the party’s State Secretariat in Benin City, Edo State.

Sunday said he was a one-time member of the APC who decamped to the PDP in 2019 alongside the former governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

He cited irreconcilable differences in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a major reason he decamped to the ruling party.

“I am indebted to the APC, and that is why I am here today to pay my debt by returning to the APC.

“In the year 2019, I was in the APC, but joined the PDP when I had to due to irreconcilable differences.

“But today, with the issues rocking the PDP, I am back to the APC to pay my debt I owe the party since it was the APC’s platform that I got my mandate as a lawmaker in the House of Assembly,” Sunday said.

Receiving the decampee, acting chairman of the APC in Edo State, Mr Jarrett Tenebe, welcomed the lawmaker to the APC, describing himself as an asset to the party.

Tenebe said the lawmaker’s decampment to the APC was long overdue following the defeat the PDP suffered in the September 21st Edo Governorship election.

With this development, the 24-member Edo Assembly now has 13 PDP lawmakers, 10 APC lawmakers and 1 Labour Party lawmaker.

With the return of the state to APC, more PDP legislators are expected to decamp to the APC in the coming days.
