The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today, Tuesday, February 13, 2024, the BoT expressed profound concerns regarding the nation’s economic hardships, soaring costs of essential goods, and alarming food scarcity.

Its concerns were contained in a communique issued at the conclusion of its 76th Meeting in Abuja.

The BoT attributed these challenges to inadequately implemented policies by the APC administration, leading to unrest and agitations across various regions.

Additionally, the Board expressed alarm at the escalating state of insecurity evidenced by mass violence, banditry, kidnappings for ransom, and terrorist activities, attributing this surge to the perceived complacency of the APC administration in addressing security issues.

Furthermore, the Board condemned pervasive corruption and unchecked embezzlement within the APC administration, particularly emphasizing the misappropriation of funds meant for palliative measures for the nation’s impoverished and vulnerable population.

The BoT expressed serious concern over the devaluation of the Naira to a distressing N1,500 to the Dollar, coupled with incessant hikes in fuel prices, resulting in queues and disruptions nationwide.

These economic woes have contributed to soaring inflation rates, escalating unemployment, and a distressing poverty rate, exacerbating the plight of millions over the past nine months.

Acknowledging the prevailing sense of hopelessness, despair, and anger among Nigerians, the Board highlighted the mass exodus of skilled professionals and corporate entities, posing an immediate threat to the nation’s survival.

The BoT lamented the absence of coherent policy measures by the APC administration to mitigate the existential threats facing the nation, leaving Nigeria in a precarious state.

Consequently, the BoT implored President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to recognize the untenable state of affairs and urged immediate action to address rampant corruption, escalating insecurity, currency devaluation, soaring fuel prices, food scarcity, and unemployment.

Despite these challenges, the BoT reaffirmed the PDP’s unwavering unity, strength, and determination to advocate for the welfare of Nigerians and safeguard their interests.

The Board called upon all Party organs, leaders, stakeholders, and members nationwide to remain resolute and united as the PDP continues to chart a path forward.

In a bid to strengthen its leadership structure, the BoT confirmed Senator Adolphus Wabara as Chairman and Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi as Secretary, aligning with the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).

The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party reiterated its steadfast commitment to the Nigerian populace and vowed to uphold its mandate of fostering national prosperity and unity.
