PDP 2024 Bayelsa Congress: Solomon, Isowo re-elected as Chairman, Secretary

The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has successfully elected a new 39-member State Executive Committee with Solomon Agwana re-elected as chairman to pilot its affairs for the next four years.

The winners were announced by the PDP Bayelsa State Congress Electoral Committee led by Hon. Olasupo Abiodun

The chairman of the electoral committee commended party members for playing by the rules and conducting themselves orderly, saying his committee was satisfied with the entire process.

Others elected during the state congress in the state capital, which also had Governor Douye Diri as one of the delegates, were Odom Ben George, Deputy Chairman; Hon.Gesiye Isowo, Secretary Mr.Luke Demeoru, Treasurer; Barr.Christopher Kainga, Legal Adviser; Hon.Christie Ebbeli, Woman Leader; Mr.Atua Amalala Godwin, Financial Secretary.

Others are Mr.Berebeokuboeyi, Auditor; Mr.Ebiye Ogoli Agu, Publicity Secretary; Mr. Ndutimi Opurupelebo, Organising Secretary; Mr.Didi Oyisor, Youth Leader; Mr.Moneyman Sidney Ikirigo, Assistant Youth leader (East), Mr.Ekpoemi Benson Friday, Assistant Youth leader (Central), Mr.Kemenanaebi Ogba Assistant Youth leader(West);Mrs.Eremifagha Mayomi John,Assistant Woman leader (East), Madam Erebi Lelei Christiana, Assistant Woman leader (Central), Mrs. Jenakumor Martha, Assistant Woman leader (West).

Also elected were Mr. osunu Ebideinyi, Assistant Auditor; Benjamin Ayibatonye, Assistant legal Adviser, ; Hon. Caro Ogbara, Assistant Financial Secretary; Mr. Tibiebi Amadein, Assistant Publicity Secretary; Mr. Hans Naworio, Assistant Organizing Secretary(East);Barr.Panebi George, Assistant Organizing Secretary (Central) Hon. Oyinkuro Bekeowei, Assistant Organizing Secretary ( West), Hon.Ebikidimie Tobi, Vice Chairman (West), Barr.Andi Obed, Vice Chairman (East), Chief.Wisdom Nathan, Vice Chairman (Central).

Mr.Michael Gilbert, Assistant Secretary (East), Mr.Ndubaden Amaoru, Assistant Secretary (Central), Mr.Kingsley Ojobofun, Assistant Secretary (West), Mr.Bob Miebi Awularah, Assistant treasurer (East), Mr.Memekezibe Abbey, Assistant treasurer (Central), Mr. Preye Prefa, Assistant Treasurer (West).

Mr. Ogoniba Levi Nitobor, West Berepikibo Nancy, Mr. Timidi Goroke,Mrs. Howell Donderikumo, Lawyer Keme Koffi, and Kerry Obidake were elected to serve as Ex-Officio.

In his remark, Bayelsa State Governor, Sen.Douye Diri, appreciated the national PDP officials, state stakeholders, and delegates for the smooth conduct of the congress.

He emphasized the need for continuous peace and love in the party.

He stated that PDP remains the most virile opposition party in the country and that it will surmount its challenges and return to power again at the centre.

He also assured that the party would not go under as there was no democracy without opposition.

He said: “The drama at the national level of our party, we are working to resolve it. This party will not go down. No democracy without opposition.

“The PDP is the main opposition party, and it will continue to play its role until it captures power again.”

He urged the new Exco to continue in the spirit that has made the party successful in the state since 1999, noting that those who did not return were due to zoning and constitutional issues.

In his acceptance speech, re-elected chairman of the state PDP, Solomon Agwana, expressed appreciation to leaders and members of the party for the confidence reposed in him and members of the Exco.

He assured that they will continue to pilot the party’s affairs in line with its constitution and support Governor Diri to deliver on his mandate.

Dignitaries at the state congress include immediate past deputy governor, Rear Admiral Gborigboha John Jonah, former acting governor, Rt. Hon. Werinipre Seibarugu, Senator Benson Agadaga, Senator Konbowei Benson, Hon. Mitema Obordor, Hon. Marie Ebikake, Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei, Hon. Woyengikuro Daniel, National Financial Secretary of PDP, Speaker of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere and other members of the assembly, senior party officials, and other top government functionaries.
