The Chairman, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State, Hon Hassan Kamorudeen Okanlawon on Thursday called on residents to perform their civic duty by paying their taxes regularly.
Okanlawon made this call while answering questions from journalists during the strategic engagement visit of the state governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola to Ifelodun Local Government Area with the headquarters in Ikirun.
The council chairman, said that regular payment of taxes and rates by the people would reciprocate the good gesture of government in providing social amenities for them.
Hon Okanlawon said, “as the government seeks to work for the common good, the people on their own part should reciprocate by paying taxes, rates and tolls.
Hon Okanlawon, who said his administration was committed to youth and women empowerment, informed that he had distributed trade support equipment such as grinding machines, deep freezers, barbing equipment and dryers with generators to some artisans.
“Similarly, agricultural implements and inputs have been distributed to the farmers as part of our commitment to the agricultural sector,” he said.
The Ifelodun council boss said that his administration placed emphasise on staff welfare especially in capacity building and provision of conducive environment which made him to put in place a beffiting office building for the council staffs as well as renovation of some damaging areas of the main council building during the #EndSars protest.
“I would not relent in making sure that I complement my principal, Governor Oyetola’s efforts in making life more bearable for the entire people of my local government area in all ramifications in terms of sharing of dividends of democracy among the people,” he added.
Hon Okanlawon however called on his people to continue to demonstrate their unalloyed support to the governor’s second term bid for him to continue his good work for the betterment of Osun people.
