Pastor Chris Okafor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries has withdrawn the public apology he earlier made to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala and other women, saying the apology was given under pressure and should not have been interpreted as an admission of guilt.

The cleric made the clarification in a new video that surfaced online on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The development comes months after a previous viral clip showed him kneeling before his congregation during a church service on 28 December 2025 while asking for forgiveness over allegations that had circulated online.

In that earlier video, Okafor had apologised publicly while maintaining that the claims against him were not accurate.

“To the lady called Doris Ogala. Listen, we’re not joining issues. Mistakes have been made in the past, and I tender an apology to everybody, but not everything that was said is true. Take note, everything that was said isn’t true. There are so many lies in most of the things that were said. For now, I apologise to everyone who was offended. To Doris Ogala, I’m sorry. I apologise to everyone,” he said in the old video.

However, speaking in the newly circulated recording, the pastor said he was compelled to apologise mainly because respected church leaders who supported him were being dragged into the controversy.

He explained that his decision to kneel and apologise was meant to shield senior ministers and spiritual leaders who were mentioned in the dispute.

According to him, “The reason I apologised was because the fathers of faith that stood by me were being dragged and I didn’t want them to be drag to it, let me reiterate clearly the statement where I said any lady that was mentioned I withdraw that there was no single apology to that person. Because I didn’t apologise for what I don’t know, do or get involved in, for somebody I didn’t know and somebody I have not met face to face. It is an error, that apology is hearby withdrawn.”

The pastor also addressed the ongoing legal dispute between him and the actress, stating that the matter is now before the court and evidence has already been submitted.

He said, “The matter is before the court, my evidence has been put before the court, whoever claims to have evidence should bring it before the court.”

The disagreement between the cleric and Doris Ogala gained attention in 2025 after allegations emerged online, including claims related to an alleged marriage promise that was not fulfilled.

Following the latest video, social media users quickly shared mixed reactions, with many expressing different opinions about the pastor’s decision to withdraw the apology.

arinzeanekwe wrote, “He who alleges must prove. She must tender her own evidence in court. Court must decides.”

heart_2_heart_with_sammy said, “Two things is involved either evidence has finished or more evidence will come out … we pin.”

michfemi31 commented, “Why the damage control na??? Everyone don move on!”

obiosangozi reacted, “Let the drama begin 😂😂 @nnama_ogala, have you heard.”

The renewed controversy has once again brought the dispute between the cleric and the actress back into public discussion as the legal process continues. [GWG]
