The Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, has explained the reason behind the suspension of award of fresh scholarships to delegates of the programme.
The Agency noted that the suspension was as a result of the PAP’s financial situation due to debts incurred by the previous education scholarship awards and other commitments, while assuring that the suspension would be lifted as soon as the obligations were cleared.
In a statement signed by the Technical Assistant to the Interim Administrator, Flt Lt Terry Ajobena (retd), it was clearly stated that all delegates on formal education, both onshore and offshore remain bona fide beneficiaries and will continue to enjoy approved privileges attached to their various scholarship schemes.
The Agency disclosed this was as a result of allegation in the mainstream media that the PAP had discontinued the sponsorship of formal education scholarship awards.
