Chaos erupted at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night after an armed man breached security and charged into the Washington Hilton ballroom, sparking a shooting scare that forced dignitaries, journalists and cabinet members to flee.
President Donald Trump released CCTV footage hours later, showing the moment the suspect sprinted past metal detectors into the packed ballroom. Seconds later, Secret Service agents swarmed him.
Trump posted the clip before addressing reporters, calling the man a “would-be assassin.”
He also shared images of a shirtless suspect face-down in the foyer, hands zip-tied behind his back.
“He charged past a security checkpoint carrying multiple weapons,” Trump said, quoted by the BBC. “He was heavily armed.”

One law enforcement officer was hit during the takedown, Trump said. The bullet struck his vest. He survived.
