● DSP Ayanlade: “No such development”; rescue operations still ongoing in Oriire LGA

The Oyo State Police Command has refuted social media reports claiming pupils and teachers abducted from Ahoro Esiele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area have been released.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said in a statement Thursday, June 4, 2026, that the reports are false, misleading and completely unverified.

“As of the time of this release, there has been no such development, and members of the public are advised to disregard the report in its entirety,” Ayanlade stated.

He urged Nigerians to ignore the viral messages, stressing that efforts to secure the victims’ release remain ongoing.

“The Command wishes to reassure the good people of Oyo State and the families of the victims that intensive and coordinated rescue operations remain ongoing,” the spokesperson said.

“Security operatives are working tirelessly, deploying all available human and operational resources to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers, their unharmed reunification with their families, and the apprehension and prosecution of all those responsible for the heinous act.”

Ayanlade cautioned individuals and groups against disseminating false information and sensational narratives capable of causing panic, heightening anxiety and undermining security operations.

While appealing for calm, he urged residents to rely only on information released through official channels of the Nigeria Police Force and other authorised government agencies.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to the safe rescue of the victims and promised timely updates as investigations and rescue efforts progress.
