Owie mourns Shehu Malami

Former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Rowland Owie, has expressed deepest condolences over the death of former Nigerian Ambassador to post-apartheid South Africa and Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Ambassador Shehu Malami, Sarkin Sudan Wurno.

Senator Owie expressed shock over his death, adding that the late Ambasador was imbued with leadership skills.

In a statement mourning the Sokoto Prince and scion of founder of the Sokoto Caliphate, Sheikh Usman bin Fodiyo popularly referred to as Shehu Danfodiyo, the former Senate Whip said that Nigeria would miss Malami’s “extraordinary leadership skills, his generosity, his sense of justice and fair play.”

According to Owie: “Malami epitomised humility, compassion, diligence, integrity and trustworthiness in every facet of your personal and professional life.”

“My family and I extend our deepest condolences to his immediate family, the Sultanate of Sokoto and the Nation. It is our prayer that the Almighty God, forgives his mistakes and grant mercy on his soul,” he said.
