Former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie, KSJI, on Monday commiserated with the family of Second Republic Senator, Nosike Ikpo, who died on Saturday at the age of 88.
In a statement in Benin, the ex-Senate Whip who was also a member of the House of Representatives in the Second Republic said his family received with sadness, the death of the octogenarian politician and former Chairman of Delta North Leaders Forum.
Extending his heartfelt condolences to Ibusa community over the loss of one of its pillars, he said: “we have lost a great man whose contributions to the growth and development of Delta and Nigeria can best be described as inspirational and worthy of emulation.
“The late Senator Ikpo, a distinguished lawmaker and elder statesman, will be remembered for redefining the place of service and patriotism in Nigeria’s development.
“He will be sorely missed by all and sundry whose lives he affected in many ways.
“I, therefore, urge all who mourn the late Senator Ikpo to take solace in the fact that his was a life of integrity and great accomplishments.
“As members of the Bendel State National Assembly Caucus in the Second Republic, he consistently displayed abiding commitment and indestructible faith in the unity and greatness of Nigeria and the role of Bendel State in shaping the Nation’s developmental trajectory
“My family and I extend our most profound condolences to the family of the late Distinguished Senator and Ibusa community, on the demise of the erudite leader,” the former Chief Whip said.
He prayed God to grant his immediate family the strength to bear the irreparable loss, pointing out that his achievements in different areas of national life would always be remembered.
