Former Senate Chief Whip and Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Distinguished Senator Rowland Owie, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Prince Malik Afegbua, a member of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Owie described Afegbua as a kind and dependable brother whose loss would be profoundly felt.

In a statement, Senator Owie reflected on the shock and sadness that followed the news of Prince Afegbua’s death on Sunday.

“The news of Prince Malik Afegbua’s passing was devastating. He embodied many virtues to numerous people, and his departure has created a void that will be challenging to fill,” Senator Owie said.

“He was pivotal in the development of party politics in Edo State, particularly in the Edo North Senatorial zone and Etsako East Local Government Area.

“As a pioneer member of the PDP, he played a crucial role in financing the party during its formative years, providing focused leadership and distinguished service whenever called upon.

“His commitment continued through his time with the ACN and the APC, where he served on the Party’s Board of Trustees.”

Senator Owie further highlighted Prince Afegbua’s significant contributions as a leader within the APC in Edo State.

“Prince Malik Afegbua led the party’s reconciliation committee and took on various responsibilities, establishing himself as a stabilizing force within the party,” he noted.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the leadership and members of the APC in Edo State and to Prince Afegbua’s family. May the Almighty grant us all the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss. Rest in peace, my dear brother,” Senator Owie concluded.
