No fewer than 800 residents of Boluwaduro local government area of Osun state have benefited from the empowerment programme sponsored by the Deputy Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Popoola Simeon Olufemi.
Recall that Hon. Popoola who is the Deputy Speaker House of Assembly, on assumption of office on the 9th of June 2019 and his eventual emergence as the Deputy Speaker of the 7th House of Assembly on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, had remained focused, determined and a go-getter in ensuring that his promises and continued success and development of his constituents were achieved.
The lawmaker was first elected to the house of Assembly between 1999 and 2003.
He later became Special Assistant on Commerce to former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, before he was re-elected to the house of representative of Boripe / Boluwaduro constituents being a tested and trusted hand.
He has been providing quality representation based on the promises made and kept.
Speaking at the Empowerment programme held at St Thomas Secondary Schoool, Otan-Ayegbaju, in Osogbo, capital of Osun State, Hon. Popoola, who is also representing Boluwaduro/Boripe Local government constituents, disclosed that hairdryers, sewing machines, generating sets and gas cylinders were given to beneficiaries who were artisans and farmers.
He said beneficiaries who were carefully selected in Boripe and Boluwaduro went home with Hairdryers, chest freezers, grinding and sewing machines, generating sets, sprayers gas cylinders among others.
“I have contributed to my people in Education, social intervention, health delivery, employment, grant for petty traders and a routine package programme towards supporting market women and vulnerable in Boripe/ Boluwaduro State Constituency.”
The philanthropist stressed that about 39 personal aides which cut across all the wards in Boripe/Boluwaduro namely Iragbiji, Ororuwo, Agba, Ada, Erinpa , Igbajo among others had been put on monthly pay as a way of impacting their lives.
Hon Popoola, an experienced legislator, was praised by constituents and Monarch for putting together such a massive social intervention programme which catered for the needs of the people and made beneficiaries of the empowerment programme raise their standard of living and contribute to the overall efforts of the government to alleviate poverty in the land.
It was a huge success which saw the State Constituency having a feel of the dividends of good representation by the Deputy Speaker.
The lawmaker had brought innovative ideals for effective overnight functions by the house. Early passage of budget which has translated to good governance.
He had established scholars scheme that cover tuition fees, accommodation, uniforms and text books for willing individuals at the constituents.
He had sponsored crucial bills such as Bills on outdoor Courts to decongest overloaded court cases and bills on sustenance of sound Health System to minimize the effectives Covid-19 and improve health system.
He had provided scholarship for over 20 Technical College Students, to guarantee a certified and thoroughly trained vocational experts, technicians and artisans in the State.
The lawmaker stated further that Youth in the constituents had been empowered in different areas so as to become independent and cater for their needs without waiting for white collar jobs.
According to him, the Youth Empowerment was designed with the aim of ensuring inclusiveness and financial empowerment for small scale businesses, similar to the current Federal government public works initiative which actually predated that of Federal government.
” Over 30 people youths are being given a monthly Stipends of 30,000 and it will last for 2years.
” The programme is like is like endorsement fund for establishing a small scale business outfit for them at the end of 2 years after which another set of vibrant youths that are equally qualified for the fund will replace them.”
He ensured that market women abundantly and massively benefited from any form of social intervention programme which he facilitated.
Hon Popoola called for the unalloyed support of the constituents for a second term in the 2023 general election.
The lawmaker assured the constituents that he would continue to do his best in ensuring “that your yearning and aspirations are met.”
