Over 80 persons burnt to death at oil bunkering site in Imo

No fewer than 80 people have reportedly lost there lives to oil bunkering popularly called ‘Kpo fire’ at Egbema kingdom in Ohaji-Egbema local government area of Imo State.

The tragedy which happened Saturday morning saw close to 50 people hospitalised.

A video doing the rounds shows charred bodies of men, women and children, as well as burnt vehicles and vegetation in the scorched area.

The state government, the State Police Command and relevant agencies had yet to make official statements as of fhectime of this publication.

The video shows many people who had thronged the scene of the fatal incident, including the individual recording the grisly sight, inspecting and commenting on the remains of the bodies of the victims that had been burnt beyond recognition.

There had been incidents in the past in different parts of the country where people who had gone to scoop fuel from fallen fuel tankers or ruptured pipelines had likewise been burnt to death. (Additional reports by TVC)
