The Quick Impact Projects carried out by the Nigerian Army have been emphasized by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya, as a means to establish a connection with the Nigerian people.
Speaking on May 18, 2023, during the inauguration of a maternity center in Araromi, Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State, Lt Gen Yahaya expressed that these projects aimed to showcase the human side of the Nigerian Army.
Representing the Chief of Army Staff, Maj Gen Mohammed Usman, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army Ibadan, explained that the concept of Quick Impact Projects was to give back to the communities where the Nigerian Army operates.
He appealed for increased support to aid the Nigerian Army in its battle against the prevailing insecurity in the country.
Lt Gen Yahaya further expressed his belief that initiatives like the maternity/health center not only fulfil the community’s collective needs but also enhance healthcare for mothers and children.
In his speech, Maj Gen Ayobami Ibikunle, the project executor, extended his gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for his invaluable support in completing and equipping the maternity center.
He praised the selfless generosity of the COAS, which enabled the realization of the project for his community.
Maj Gen Ibikunle urged the community to make good use of the center and ensure its proper maintenance.
He also highlighted that the center was well-equipped with modern facilities that could rival similar facilities elsewhere.
The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including the representative of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal MO Onilede, the Corps Commander Ordinance, Maj Gen AM Alabi, a representative of the former Governor of Osun State, and several senior military officers. His Royal Majesty Oba Abdur-Rasheed (Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV) was also in attendance.
The ceremony included souvenir exchanges, a group photograph, and a guided tour of the newly inaugurated maternity center, serving as the highlights of the event.
