Former aide to Osun state Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Funmiso Akinbola Babarinde, has promised to run a party that will preserve the legacy of the founding fathers that is more tolerant, prosperous and fairer by giving every member of the party equal opportunity if elected chairman of the party in the state.
Babarinde made this promise while speaking at the maiden meeting with members of Irawo Osun political group on Saturday.
Babarinde said his leadership would work directly with the leaders of the party towards the development of the party.
According to him, “it is the turn of my local government to produce not only the state chairman of the party but it is now time for his people to produce a substantive State Working Committee member of the party for the first time since 1999 that PDP came into existence in the state.
“Ife North Local Government people have paid their dues in terms of multiple victories in recent times, PDP has a tradition of honouring a winning team with worthy positions either at the party or government levels and if I am allowed to lead our party in the state, my leadership would be meaningful to all and sundry as am going to bring every member together under our umbrella.
“Those who are sincere in the party will say it out that I am the aspirant to beat, I am a better person for the job presently based on my pedigree, my contributions to the party and my sincere commitment in ensuring the stability of the party till date.
“The desire to be there for everyone is one of the cardinal reasons that sees me aspiring for the chairmanship of the PDP in the state.
“If found worthy to lead, I will devote my all to adhere to the goals and aspirations of the party, abiding by the rule of law, the PDP constitution and manifesto.
“For me, I will continue to strengthen the PDP to an institution, an entity that is operating on the basis of ideals and rule of law,” Babarinde added.
Babarinde however used the medium to congratulates all the leaders, members and teeming supporters of the PDP in the state who are Muslims and Christians on the ongoing Ramadan and Lenten periods, adding that Almighty God will attend to the prayers of all and sundry.
