The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Osun State, Comrade Adekomi Kabiru Adekunle has called on members of the union to redouble their efforts and support the education policy of Gboyega Oyetola’s administration in the state.
Comrade Adekunle made this call while speaking with our correspondent in his office in Osogbo, the state capital.
The Osun NUT boss said teachers in the state must be up and doing in order to compliment government’s efforts on education.
Comrade Adekunle, who described entire teachers in the state as most hardworking, called on the state government to do more in terms of motivation and remuneration to enhance their productivity.
The NUT Chairman, who commended Governor Oyetola for being friendly with the entire workers by paying monthly salary as and when due, also enjoined the governor to always give adequate recognition to teachers and the teaching profession.
Comrade Adekunle, who appreciated teachers in the state for their unalloyed support to him since he assumed office as number one teacher, assured that he will always give priority to adequate training and retraining of teachers across board while his representation will add glamour to the betterment and development of teachers in the state.
The NUT Chairman, who called for the support of the state government to their forthcoming local government teachers election across the state, admonished the contestants to play the game according to the rules and regulations.
According to Comrade Adekunle, “I want to enjoin all my members all over the state contesting for one position or the other not to forment trouble before, during and after the election holding in a couples of days away.
“Let us see the election as a friendly football match while we should not see it as a do or die affairs as we should all demonstrate maturity in order to avert sentiment among ourselves”.
The chairman also appreciated the union’s General Secretary, Comrade Salami Bariyu Olukayode and other members of staff for their unflinching support as well, adding that he will not fail them.
