The Ataoja of Osogbo in Osun state, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, has said that he would have been chased out of the palace if the incumbent governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola had won the just concluded governorship election, saying that only God saved him from humiliation.
Oba Oyetunji made this known while receiving the governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke and his entourage in his palace for thank you visit.
He noted that he was threatened with eviction by some undisclosed people under the APC.
It would be recalled that during Adeleke’s campaign visit to Ataoja before the governorship poll, the monarch while reacting to the alleged attack on some PDP members coming to receive their party’s candidate, had placed curses on the people behind politically-motivated attacks in the town.
The outburst of the royal father did not go down well with some people within the community, who accused him of partisanship.
But Ataoja, while speaking in a short video clip recorded during the Governor-elect’s visitation to him, described himself as lucky with Adeleke’s victory, as he could have been chased out from the palace with a broom.
Ataoja, who spoke in the Yoruba language for about fifteen minutes in the video said, “my sermon to my son, who is now my boss is simple, may you be successful in office. I am saying this openly so that people can hear. Let them know that my joy has come. Imagine them saying they will sweep me away with their brooms with cane from this palace.
According to him, “It is God that saved me. It is not only Ademola (Adeleke) that has been lucky, myself, the Ataoja, am also lucky. Let them listen to me now, no one can chase me out with a cane. I congratulate all of us that God has given us this new governor who is ready to transform the entire Osun.
“May his reign be peaceful. After your eight years in office, Ataoja will produce your successor. May you never stumble. You will serve the first and second term, after that, the post can return to Osogbo”.
The revered monarch congratulated Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory and urged him to be patriotic in his government and never allow politicians to truncate his government.
