Osun State Government has suspended a teacher of Masifa Community Grammar school, Ejigbo in the state, indefinitely over comments on facebook.
The Conclave gathered that the suspension Mr Akinyemi Philip was contained in a letter signed by Mr. E.O. Onatola, Tutor General, Osun West Education District.
According to the letter, “Your are more focused on partisan politics than your duty as a teacher and commitment to the state government as civil servant in Osun.
“Your unpatriotic, abusive, provocative postings, comment on social media are against the civil service rules.”
It was also gathered that the Osun government suspended the teacher over his open support for the former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam.
The Conclave also gathered that the affected teacher was a witness during the Tribunal, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court cases on the election of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in 2018.
Commenting on the development during the weekly meeting of The Osun Progressives (TOP) on Tuesday, a chieftain of the APC, Barrister Kolapo Alimi condemned the development, saying it is pettiness taken too far by the Oyetola’s administration.
He said: “They didn’t know that Philip was a civil servant then, but now that the guy showed that he is not and will never be an ingrate to his benefactor(s) like he (Oyetola) and his government are doing to their benefactors.
“Oyetola now deemed it fit to suspend this guy from the service, today. Is this how to reward a person that has once helped someone?
“This is Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s prime witness, Phillips Akinyemi whom the Appeal and Supreme Courts upheld his witness to deliver judgments in Oyetola’s favour in the electoral litigation involving Gboyega Oyetola and Ademola Adeleke, and just because the man used Najeem Salam pictures on Facebook as profile picture, he was suspended indefinitely.
“The World can now see the prime ingrate in Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s blood.
“Akinyemi, a leading witness who saved our party, APC at the Supreme Court in 2019, he is a teacher and he was sacked simply because he was tagged Omo Aregbesola from his local government.”
