Osun State Governor’s Wife, Chief ( Mrs) Titilola Adeleke has lauded the collaborative efforts of the Federal Ministry of Health, Development Partners Society for Family Health, Catholic Relief Services with Osun Ministry of Health to combat malaria through the provision of insecticide treated nets,and for her choice as the year 2023 Net Ambassador in Osun State.
Chief Mrs Titilola Adeleke gave the commendation in Osogbo during her investiture as Net Ambassador for Osun State.
According to her, the insecticide treated nets were provided free of charge to all households in Osun to protect residents from mosquito bites and by extension eradicate malaria the most common public Health problem in Nigeria that affects almost all Nigerians, especially children under 5 years of age and pregnant women. She therefore urged the residents to take the exercise seriously.
Chief (Mrs) Adeleke used the medium to advise all women, especially pregnant women, children, and adults, to ensure that their families are protected from mosquito bites by sleeping inside the nets every night. She further admonished the people of Osun to make themselves available in their various homes, provide correct information data to the mobilizers and distributors,be registered and given nets, disclosing that the mobilization and distribution period is from 6th- 17th July,2023.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Isiaka Adekunke hinted that the Net Ambassador, which is also refered to as the Brand Ambassador of Net Distribution Campaign, is a step towards starting the mass distribution of the long lasting insecticide treated nets in Osun State.
Dr Adekunle stressed further that as the net Ambassador, Her Excellency will use her prestiguous position in the society to encourage pregnant women, children,as well as men to key into the net distribution campaign.
In her goodwill message, Her Royal Majesty, Olori Temitope Ogunwusi, Wife of His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife urged the residents of the State to embrace the programme because “malaria is a deadly disease that needs to be totally eradicated.”
She promised to put in her best to support the programme in terms of advocacy.
In his goodwill message, Society for Family Health Campaign Manager, Dr John Ocholi stated that the use of the insecticide treated nets ITN was very compulsory for every household in the State.
Present at the event were, PDP Women Leader ,Chief, Mrs Alice Omowumi, The Iyaloja General,Osun State, Chief(Mrs) Mary Oyebode,Director of of Public Health, Dr Bello Akeem and Osun Malaria Programme Manager, Dr Femi Oroge, among others.
