Osun council of Obas urges FG, ASUU to reconcile

Osun State Council of Obas has appealed to Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to soft pedal on the ongoing strike so that the future of university students would not be jeopardized.

Speaking with newsmen on behalf of the monarchs shortly after their monthly meeting at the State Secretariat in Osogbo, the Council Chairman, the Arole Oduduwa and Ooni of Ife, His Royal Eminence, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja11, said the prolonged feud between the FG and ASUU had caused a lot of damage in the society.

He also said it had also affected academic calendar of the government institutions, noting that monarchs would not fold their arms and see things fall apart in the country.

“The traditional rulers across the country in a meeting held recently in Abuja had submitted their report to the president and the strike would soon be called off,” he said.

The Co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, disclosed further that the youths were the future of the country, stressing that the frantic efforts must be put in place so that the next generation would not point the finger at the present leadership.

Ooni Adeyeye took the opportunity to congratulate, on behalf of the Council of Obas, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, on the anniversary of his second term in office and on recognizing them.

The council Chairman posited that the council as a body would continue to serve as a link between the Government and members of the public.
