By Richard Akintade, Osogbo
Ahead of the July 16 governorship election in Osun State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader in the state, Olagoke Akinwemimo on Sunday called on the entire youths not to allow themselves to be used for political thuggery before, during and after the election in the state.
The youth leader gave this advice in a press statement issued and made available to our Correspondent in Osogbo the state capital.
Akinwemimo in the statement said the incumbent administration led by Governor Gboyega Oyetola in the state will continue to create awareness among youths on the need to be wary of being used as political thugs by unscrupulous politicians, noting that it is on record that political violence is mostly hatched and sponsored by overzealous politicians where they engage unemployed youths for their dirty job.
The youth leader said: “I know youths play a vital role in any election globally. They must shun any act of violence and there should be sanity.
“Our dear parents should be monitoring their children and advise them to avoid any form of political violence that might claim lives and property before, during and after Osun governorship election which is drawing nearer.”
Akinwemimo urged youths in the state to make sure that they fully participate in the July 16 governorship election and support the re-election of Oyetola for second term for him to continue his good job for the youths and entire people of the state.
“Governor Oyetola has transformed the whole Osun towards the betterment of the people, his people oriented programmes which is contributing to the development of the state too cannot be over emphasised.
“So, let us join hands together and demonstrate our unalloyed support to Mr Governor’s reelection bid,” the youth leader admonished.
He also enjoined youths to use their vote wisely by not selling it and ensure adequate protection of their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) which would enable them to partake in the election.
