The Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, has been commended on his efforts to turn the state to a food basket of the nation.
The Acting General Manager, Osun State Agricultural Development Corporation, (OSSADEC), Mr Oyewole Adebayo, made this commendation while answering questions from our Correspondent in his office on Tuesday.
The OSSADEC boss said the governor had been working in encouraging the entire farmers in the task of banishing hunger in the state while his complete support to the agency couls not be over emphasised.
According to Adebayo, “the governor’s did not relent in ensuring and promoting massive food production which would definitely improve tremendously the living standard of the farmers in the state.”
The Ag GM said, “our amiable Governor Oyetola is always creating enabling environment for all the farmers in order to have adequate and sufficient food supply for the entire people in and outside the state.”
Adebayo further informed that the state government had also acquired some hectares of land in Ila-Orangun for cultivation of crops and meeting the food needs of entire residents of the state while it would also ensure food security.
The OSSADEC Ag GM, however, promised all the practising farmers across the state of the corporation’s readiness in providing agriculture government-support services to them as part of measure to guarantee food security for all and sundry as well as making the state a food basket of the country.
