Former Edo Sate Governor and Senator representing Edo North, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, has expressed profound sorrow and shock over the passing of a former Health Commissioner in the State, Prof. (Mrs) Aihanuwa Erigie.
Oshiomhole, in a statement released through his senior aide Victor Oshioke, described Prof. Erigie as a paragon of excellence and a true professional in the medical field.
He highlighted her outstanding virtues and noted that Prof. Erigie’s commitment to excellence and professionalism earned her the appointment as commissioner for Health in Edo State from 2013 to 2016.
During her tenure, she implemented several impactful programmes that significantly improved healthcare delivery in the state.
He said that her remarkable personality and dedication to service made her a respected figure, earning her the admiration of many.
In his message of condolence, Oshiomhole extended his heartfelt sympathies to Prof. Erigie’s husband, Prof. Charles Erigie, her children, the University of Benin Community, and the entire Benin Kingdom.
He described Prof. Aihanuwa
Erigie as a voice of reason, a symbol of humility, sincerity, and dignity, whose motherly nature endeared her to all who knew her.
