A former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has been dragged through court in respect of the 2023 presudential race.

The import of the case filed in a Bauchi State High Court is to legally enable Orji Kalu to throw his hat in the ring for the 2023 presidency.

The two plaintiffs in the suit, to wit: Comrade Aliyu Ladan and Lawan Abdullahi, had filed their suit before Bauchi State High Court Number three, Presided over by Justice Mohammed A Sambo.

After filing the suit, they had addressed a press conference in Bauchi wherein they argued that only Kalu could rescue Nigeria from its woes.

They pointed out that Nigeria was facing so many challenges which only a strategic thinker like Orji Kalu could fix.

They said that they were not oblivious of the fact that Orji Kalu had the capacity to change the ugly scenario in the country as he had done in Abia state, despite all the challenges that bedeviled the state.

“Orji Uzor Kalu changed the narratives of Abia state when he conducted the affairs of the state.

“We are supporting him to steer the affairs of the nation in 2023 because of his laudable achievements and exceptional leadership qualities.

“We entered into an agreement with him on 2nd February 2021 that he would contest for president but he was reluctant to declare his interest.

“Kalu is a man of purpose and foresight, a mentor to many citizens, a dynamic Nigerian, an advocate of justice, a revolutionary politician, a consumate administrator and a master in strategy.

“He is a blessing not only to the Igbo communities but also to all Nigerians.

“We are in court because we want the court to (compel him to ) respect our agreement with him to contest the position of the President of Nigeria.

“We want the Court to compel Kalu to declare his interest to run in the 2023 General election as a presidential candidate on the platform of APC or any other party.

“We want the court to direct Kalu to commence preparations and put all the necessary machinery in place for the purpose of contesting as a presidential candidate,” they said.

The plantiffs said that many credible groups across the six senatorial zones were already drumming support for Kalu to vie for the position of the president in 2023 because they had found him worthy to deliver good governance to the nation.

“Kalu has established good relationships with all Nigerians and he has never disappointed any of these relationships.

“He has so many businesses across Northern and Southern parts of the country for decades and has never manipulated or cheated anybody because he is a man of his words who is trustworthy.

“We have found him worthy because we know whatever he says, he will do, and whatever he says he will not do, he will not do. He is sincere to Nigerians and Nigerians are sincere to him.”

The Plaintiffs who described Kalu as a presidential material with a wealth of experience in the private sector, executive and legislative arms of government, urged the ruling All Progressives Congress APC to commence a process of adopting him as the sole candidate of the party.

They stressed that Kalu’s managerial skill, experience and national appeal, had put him in the best position to rule Nigeria in 2023.

Reports said that when the plaintiffs’ case was mentioned, the Presiding Judge, Justice Sambo, ordered the plaintiffs to serve Kalu with the originating summons in Abuja, outside the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the suit to the 27th of January 2022 for hearing.
