All is set for Orhua community, in Uhunmwode Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State, for the official unveiling of an erected sculptural work on the late Professor Amadin Osemota, foremost librarian, educationist, philanthropist and devoted Christian, who passed, recently, in the United States of America and was buried back home in Edo State.
The unveiling of her bust (a sculpture showing the human head and shoulders, etc.), is being organised by the Orhua Indigenes Auchi Polytechnic Alumni Association (OIAPAA), a group consisting of graduates from the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, and supported by others, who admire the immense societal contributions made by the late professor, who is said to be of many parts.
In a statement signed by Pastor Shadrack Probity Agie, Global President of the association, and Mr. Emmanuel Ogieva Aigbe, its Global Secretary /PRO, which was made available to the press, the event is the launch of a programme of clustered activities, to immortalise the late legend, holding at Orhuaghide Primary School, Orhua, on Friday 27 December, 2024 at 10 am.
The occasion would be chaired by Hon Ken Adodo, and Pa A.O. Ayere JP, the Odionwere of Orhua, with the Streets Heads as Host/Father of the Day, while Engr. Vincent Ogbeide, Chairman of the Orhua People’s Forum, would be the guest speaker.
Born on June 22, 1946, to the family of late Pa Alfred Aghore Ogbeide of Orhua in Uhunmwode LGA, Prof Lucy Amadin Osemota (Nee Ogbeide), a brilliant child, had her upbringing and early education at Orhua, and others in Nigeria, before proceeding to the United States of America (USA) to have a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Education at the University of Maryland. With further education and experience, she assumed her professorship and Reference Librarian at the Florida Memorial University and DeVry University, respectively.
Married to the late Dr Samuel Uwa Osemota, with biological children, Prof Osemota, a devoted Christian and caregiver, who had worked at a top-level position to innovate the present-day Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, had mentored to greatness, numerous graduates of the polytechnic, hence the payback activities of the OIAPAA.
