The decision of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ondo State Chapter, to allow the Governor of Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde, to oversee a rally in Akure on their behalf, a rally which the said governor used to celebrate himself and his state, rather than the organizers of the rally and their mission, was done on the wrong leg. The said governor came along with just few other PDP national leaders that include the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Engr. Segun Oni, Prince Uche Secondus and others. The impression portrayed was that it is governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State that is contesting the coming gubernatorial election in Ondo State. The absence of notable gladiators like former Governor Peter Fayose and a host of other sitting governors in the South-South and South- East, has further opened up the flanks of the PDP as a party in disarray and one, not, really, ready for the election ahead.
To start with, we wonder why the PDP needed the leading testimony of these political mercineries to attest its status before the good people of Ondo State. The mighty have relied on their past goodwill to push home their points, that is, if they have any.
Actually, one would not have expected a political rally led by Prince Uche Secondus of the opposition party to objectively x-rayed the ruling APC party, but to concoct lies against same government at its backyard is a new height of political falsity that must won award.
We know that the dynamics of political rallies often pushes people to the limit to say things unfounded to impress the crowds. One after the other, the sequestered guests of the PDP, some of whom have not been to Ondo State in the last four years spoke glowingly these said tales of lies, mainly, consisting what they were told by their hosts to demean the image of the incumbent government so as to score political goals. Yes, they did score goals, but they were cheap and beyond the pale ones.
As the ruling political party, privy to the monumental achievements of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in spite of limited resources at his disposal, coupled with the huge debt of over 200billion naira left by the same PDP government of the previous administration to settle, we know it and we laugh at it what they called facts, which, actually, was falsehood, mere ranting of ants.
The APC government, having spent the last three and a half years in office working hard to improve on the lot of the people of Ondo State considered the show of shame displayed by the PDP as unbefitting of a party wishing to lead a state in the category of Ondo State. Oyo State, may be, but Ondo State? No.
We can conclude that the leaders of the PDP that came to the rally did not take a tour round the state to see things, first hand, as any right thinking persons will do before passing judgement. What a crudity !
Apparently, their folks here failed to tell them about wonders like the Ore Industrial hub which has recorded high accolades within and outside the country. The hub has seven operational industries included within its operational areas, including a truck assembly plant. Neither were they told about the Redemption Interchange bridge at Ore that has drastically reduced traffic lockdown and avoidable accidents along the ever busy western and eastern route at the historic town of Ore.
Also, we hope the guests to the PDP are aware that the venue where they held their rally was actually given a facelift, with modern facilities that includes toilets and other comforts they enjoyed on their visit by this present APC government they said did nothing.
In instances like the one described above, in the future, we would expect the PDP stalwarts to be civil and honest in calling a spade a spade by simply admitting it that governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has done creditably well, thus, calling out the good people of Ondo State to re-elect him for another four years in office come 10th of October 2020.
We want to place it on notice that the PDP stalwartsts maliciously destroy posters, billboards and other outdoor campaign materials of the APC. Coming from us to them, ‘well done, folks.’
Like many ill-informed persons within and outside the state, the PDP leaders on visit to Ondo State have been deceived and hoodwinked by their fellow party men on the true state of our thriving infrastructural development. We are sure that they have also been scammed by their friends by riding them through a deliberate misrepresentation of facts. However, they do not have to take our words for it that Ondo State is one of the fastest growing states in terms of provision of dividends of democracy to its people, they should take the pain to go round the state themselves and interface with the people to verify these claims.
We are concerned, as a party (APC), about the reputation of people like former governor Segun Oni, whom we are sure only offered to say what he was fed with without verification.
Engr. Segun Oni can attest to the new-look of Akure as he moved through the city to his home state of Ekiti that Akure is wearing a new beautiful look. In just three and a half years. New roads have adorned the landscape of Akure city. Many of these roads were constructed within a hundred days of Arakunrin Akeredolu in office. Roads in the communities like Abusoro, Oke-Ogba, Gaga, Adaba FM Radio road, the different intersection roads linking different areas of Alagbaka Estate, including the one that passes through the house of the very PDP gubernatorial candidate, Barr Eyitayo Jegede SAN, in Alagbaka Estate in his hometown of Akure, are part of what constitute the high marks on the score cards of this present APC government.
Other roads under construction within the township of Akure include the notorious, ever busy Oda road, the Oluwatuyi-Ijoka road, the busy Hospital road, all of them double lane roads, the Orita Obele/OSRC road and many other roads in Akure that are near to completion.
Till date, over 401km of roads have been completed statewide in just three and a half years of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in office.
Barrister Mukhtar Shehu Shagari CFR, sir, knowing your pedigree, especially, that your father, former President Shehu Shagari stood for and advocated a fair society, we are deeply saddened that you have been dragged into this show of shame of a political rally in Akure via the manipulations of a master-manipulator, Mr Aminu Tambuwal which was a deliberate plot to gain undue honour over the shoulders of some other noble men.
The least we can advise Senator Akinyelure, Senator Nicholas Tofowomo, the both, whom, also, participated in this charade, when, really, they knew the truth, is to embrace honour rather than contempt. There is more to life than being spoilers where there is nothing to spoil, really.
As for Oyewole Fasawe, Fatai Adams, Clement Faboyede, Omolade Oluwateru and others who spitted outrageous lies against the person of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the APC at their said violent plagued gathering, the emptiness of their entire narratives, clearly, proved the quality of the type of people they are. That is sad.
They should all know that a man that carries God’s grace cannot suffer disgrace from man no matter the wish of the enemies. In the hands of a master artist, fantasy becomes real. In due season, let it be known to the PDP and their stalwarts that the good people of Ondo State who appreciate the good work of the APC led-government shall return Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to Alagbaka government house in due course.
