Reactions have continued to trail the attack by unknown gunmen on the residence of Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho on Thursday morning as the Osun State Coordinator of Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), Chief Leke Akintayo Olojongbodu condemned the attack in totality.
Barely 72 hours to the proposed Yoruba Nation Rally in Lagos, Sunday Igboho’s Ibadan residence was invaded by unknown gunmen in military uniform where two persons were confirmed dead.
According to Olojongbodu “attacking Sunday Igboho is not good enough at this point in time, the man has not committed any criminal offence, he must be seen as a man of honour and as a prominent Yoruba leader.
“Sunday Igboho is not trying to attack Mr President, nation or any leaders in the country but he is trying to search for the betterment and development of the entire Yoruba race”.
Olojongbodu said: “The attack on Sunday Igboho must be investigated by the security authorities in the country as it is difficult to point finger at anybody in support of the attack”.
The leader of Dr Friedrick Fasheun’s led OPC, in Osun, who described President Mohammed Buhari as a true father of the nation, enjoined him to call for adequate investigation of the attack on Sunday Igboho.
Olojongbodu added that: “I am using this medium to condemn the attack on our dear son, Sunday Igboho this morning, he must not die and nothing bad must not happen to him as a true son of the land”.
Olojongbodu however called on whoever that is behind the attack to apply decorum and follow due process of law, saying killing or attacking Igboho is not the solution to the issues plaguing Nigeria.
