One adult male has been confirmed dead, while several others were trapped in a building collapse in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that the building collapsed about 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
“Following distress alerts about 2:02 p.m., LASEMA activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans from Agbowa and Alausa.
“Upon arrival of the agency’s response teams at 2:40 p.m., it was discovered that a two-storey building undergoing construction had collapsed, with three victims trapped under the debris at the aforementioned location.
“The cause of the collapsed building is yet to be ascertained.”
The LASEMA boss said one adult male was found dead, adding that three people were still trapped.
“Three people reportedly trapped while nine adult males have been successfully rescued and attended by the LASEMA Pre-Hospital Care Unit,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
He added that safety measures were activated with the operational area cordoned off at the incident scene.
