UniAbuja averts fire outbreak in Library.

Management of the University of Abuja has confirmed a fire incident in one of the rooms of the University Library.

Dr Habib Yakoob, Head, Information and University Relations, University of Abuja, confirmed in astatement that it happened about 9.30pm on Friday (May 21) but the fire was immediately put our.

According to the statement, “No life was lost and no injuries reported.

“By the Grace of God, and with the prompt response of the students and staff members who were around the vicinity, UniAbuja Fire Service operatives, the Fire Service, Gwagwalada, among other first responders, the fire was quickly contained.

“The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdul- Rasheed Na’Allah, has immediately set up a committee to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the fire.

“The committee is to be chaired by the Dean of Engineering, Professor Toochukwu Ogwueleka.

“This committee will submit its findings, including recommendations on how any such incident can be totally prevented and or swiftly curtailed anywhere on the University campus in future.

“We thank you all for your concerns and care.”
