The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has reaffirmed its dominance and internal cohesion as various Tinubu/Support groups continue to spring up across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on the development, the Director of Media and Publicity of the party in the state, Mr. Steve Otaloro, described the proliferation of these groups as a reflection of the party’s strength, wide acceptance, and the enduring popularity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu among the people of Ondo State.
“The multiplicity of Tinubu and APC support groups across the state is a vivid demonstration of how deeply rooted our party has become in the political consciousness of our people. It equally underscores the immense goodwill and confidence President Tinubu enjoys among the electorate in Ondo State. What we are witnessing is a natural expression of loyalty and political enthusiasm that will ultimately make the 2027 presidential election a walkover for the President in the state,” Otaloro stated.
He emphasised that the party has no reservations about the activities of these groups as long as they operate within the confines of the electoral laws and the internal frameworks of the APC.
“As much as their activities remain within the limits prescribed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), particularly on the issue of pre-election campaigns, they are free to operate as legitimate caucuses within our party. The understanding is that at the appropriate time, all these groups will converge under one united umbrella to be led by the State Governor and leader of the party, His Excellency, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who will steer the state’s presidential campaign machinery for 2027,” he explained.
Addressing concerns that the groups might be overshadowing the party’s established structures, Mr. Otaloro dismissed such notions as misplaced.
“The emergence of these groups is a healthy development that energizes our political base and strengthens grassroots participation. Rather than see them as competing entities, we view them as complementary forces that reinforce our structures at every level. Our immediate priority remains the forthcoming party congress, and all our energies are directed toward ensuring a successful and transparent exercise. Therefore, the idea of these groups overshadowing the party does not arise,” he affirmed.

Mr. Otaloro also debunked insinuations that the proliferation of Tinubu support groups provides a refuge for supposed aggrieved members of the APC.
“Let’s be clear there is no internal crisis in the Ondo State chapter of the APC. No member is contemplating leaving the party. On the contrary, we continue to receive new members from other political parties in droves. What some people mistake for internal grievances are simply healthy rivalries among supporters of aspirants preparing for future elective positions. Such spirited engagements are normal features of any vibrant democracy,” he noted.
He further assured that all support groups are aware that, at the appropriate time, their structures will be collapsed into the official APC campaign framework to be constituted for the 2027 general elections.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership has brought renewed unity, discipline, and confidence to our fold. Our political platform remains solid and forward-looking. Every member understands the need for cohesion and respect for party boundaries, ensuring that our pre-election consultations do not violate electoral guidelines or give our opponents any undue advantage,” Otaloro concluded.
