Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has been released from the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja after fulfilling the bail terms granted by a Magistrate Court.
Sowore was detained for four days following his arrest during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow demonstration in Abuja.
Sowore was released alongside Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu, and 11 other protesters.
The court granted each defendant bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with conditions, including presenting a verified National Identification Number (NIN), submitting three-year tax clearance certificates, and depositing their passports with the court.

Upon his release, Sowore took to social media to confirm his freedom, stating, “HAPPENING NOW: Leaving Kuje Prison in Abuja after being detained there illegally for four days by President Bola Tinubu’s illegal IGP, Kayode Egbetokun.
