Omokri Counters Atiku: “FBI Records Show Tinubu Is Not 90”

Nigerian Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has dismissed claims by ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar that President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old, citing a 2003 FBI record that lists the President’s date of birth as March 29, 1952.

Omokri made the rebuttal on Tuesday during an interview on the “City Boy Movement’s” media one-on-one podcast hosted by Otega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media.

The former presidential aide said the allegation was contradicted by an official document from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, transmitted through the US Embassy in Lagos to former Inspector-General of Police Tafa Balogun.

Reading from the letter dated in response to a February 3, 2003 request, Omokri stated: “In relation to your letter dated February 3, 2003, regarding Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a record check of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Crime Information Centre was conducted.

“The result of the check was negative for any criminal arrest records, wants or warrants for Bola Tinubu.”

He added: “Notice that the FBI records have the President’s date of birth, which is March 29, 1952. So, this document destroys anybody trying to say that the President is 90 years old.”

Atiku had earlier alleged in a BBC interview that Tinubu was 90 and in poor health, saying he had proof to present in court.

“You have a President who is 90 years old now and sick, and I am healthy and strong. So why won’t I make myself available to serve my country?

“You went and voted for someone who is 90 years old. I have evidence that President Tinubu is 90 years old, and I will present it in court,” Atiku said.

Omokri also used the interview to clarify his relationship with the former Vice President.

“First of all, Atiku was never my principal; he’s my friend,” he said.

According to the math from the FBI document, President Tinubu would be 74 years old in 2026, not 90 as claimed by Atiku.

The Ambassador-designate said the document serves as “complete vindication” of the President amid ongoing debates about his age and health.

No response has yet come from the Atiku campaign regarding the FBI document cited by Omokri.
