● Ex-Deputy Senate President says NDC loyalty “lies with Obi”
Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has declared Peter Obi as his preferred presidential candidate for 2027, after defecting from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
Omo-Agege made the endorsement Wednesday in an interview with Arise TV, saying his political loyalty now lies with the NDC.
—“My loyalty now lies with NDC”—
On May 28, Omo-Agege joined the NDC and declared his intention to contest for the Delta Central senatorial seat in the 2027 elections after resigning his membership of the All Progressives Congress.
The Delta APC chieftain confirmed he will be supporting Obi, the NDC presidential candidate, in the 2027 election.
—Still backs Tinubu’s economic reforms—
Despite backing an opposition candidate for president,Omo-Agege said he continues to support key economic reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu.
The endorsement adds a new dimension to 2027 permutations, with the former APC ranking lawmaker now aligning with the NDC platform while separating presidential preference from his stance on current federal policies.
