Canada-based APC chieftain says diaspora now confident to invest as governor cracks down on crime
Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has been praised for his “relentless and winning” fight against kidnapping, cultism, illicit drugs and other crimes.
The commendation came from Mr Goddy Francis Okoyo, a Canada-based businessman, chartered accountant and behavioural scientist.
Okoyo is CEO of GFO Agro Nigeria Limited and a chieftain of the APC in Ugboha Ward, Esan South East LGA.
—“Edo is now safe for investment”—
Okoyo said Okpebholo’s sustained crackdown on criminality is restoring peace and attracting development.
“With the huge successes so far recorded by His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, in his tireless fight against criminal behaviours, a lot of Edo people, especially those in the Diaspora, are now reassured that our dear state, Edo, is now very safe for them to regularly visit and establish businesses,” he said.

He specifically commended the governor for the swift arrest of suspected kidnappers of a woman at the Vegetable Market in Benin City, and for vowing “austere actions” against kidnapping, cultism and other crimes.

Okoyo also praised Edo State Police Commissioner Mr Monday Agbonika and other security agencies for what he called “a job well done”.
Known as GFO in political circles, Okoyo said he is part of Nigeria’s diaspora network that helped elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Okpebholo.
He urged Edo traditional institutions and residents to partner with government and security agencies.
“The fight against crime is the duty of all and sundry,” he added.
