Okowa inaugurates ICT centre in Asaba

Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa represented by the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Engr Matthew Tsekiri has inaugurated a privately driven ICT centre in Asaba, the state capital.
This in a statement titled ‘Westgate Technologies unveils 600 capacity CBT centre in Asaba’ obtained by our correspondent on Friday.
The centre built by Westgate Technologies Store is a 600 capacity Computer Based Test centre.
Represented at the centre’s inauguration by the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Engr Matthew Tsekiri, the governor described the centre as inspirational, saying the government was proud to be associated with the achievement of Westgate.
He said it was the desire of his administration to continue to provide the enabling environment for investment to thrive.
The governor urged potential investors to take advantage of both human and natural resources of the state as well as its peaceful ambience to invest in several human endeavours across the state.
Okowa said the presence of the hub in Asaba would save the government the cost of going to Lagos and other parts of the world for standard ICT products.
He said, “We are pleased to have this here. It will save us the cost of going to Lagos for ICT products which was the case before now.
“As a government, we are ready to make Delta State a smart city in terms of ICTs. I call on private entrepreneurs to support this drive in the development of ICTs.”
Chairman of Westgate Technologies Store, Casmir Ezeudu, said the centre would not just sell products but meaningfully contribute to the growth of the host community.
