The planned arraignment of a former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before a Federal High Court, Abuja, could not go ahead on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, owing to the absence of the 1st defendant in court.

Okorocha was to be docked alongside six others on a 17-count charge before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court for alleged conspiracy and stealing of N2.9 billion public funds.

But when the matter was called, six of the defendants were present with the exception of the 1st defendant, Okorocha, who was neither present nor sent legal representation.

Prosecuting counsel, Cosmos Ugwu, told the court that effecting service on the former Imo State governor has been difficult.

Justice Ekwo adjourned till March 28, 2022 to enable EFCC to serve the 1st defendant with the charge, to take his plea.

The other defendants in the case are Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited.
