Okonjo-Iweala appreciates African Leaders, EU, ECOWAS, others for their support

The leading candidate in the race for the position of Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has expressed her gratitude to several heads of state and continental establishments for their support of her candidacy en route becoming the DG of the apex trade body.

Okonjo-Iweala took to Twitter to thank the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, other presidents on the continent, and the African Union Commission (AUC). She also appreciated the efforts of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the European Union (EU), and the WTO officials.

The former Nigeria finance minister tweeted, “I look forward to finalizing the process of @WTO DG. My gratitude to HE @CyrilRamaphosa, all African Heads of State, the AUC Chair. Special thanks to ECOWAS Heads of State for outstanding support. I thank @PressACP@Miaamormottley, EU, all Officials $ Leaders of WTO Members.”
