Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has been lauded for his timely intervention in the fraudulent recommendation of the appointment and approval of the Rector of the state Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, [PHAS] Ilese-Ijebu.
A concerned group in the state on Sunday gave the commendation in a release signed by its convener, Mr Mathew Olanipekun, a copy of which was made available to THE CONCLAVE.
It will be recalled that the group had, recently, called the state governor for urgent intervention on the Rectorship appointment for the institution.
In the statement, Olanipekun said Governor Abiodun had displayed a good leadership role for his timely intervention on the rectorship appointment of the institution.
The group stressed: “Your Excellency Sir, We want to appreciate your timely response on the issue of dubious and corrupt recommendation made to you on the appointment and approval of Rector of the Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, Ilese.
“We are reliably informed that you have called the Chairman of the institution governing council to confirm the authenticity of the claim that the recommended candidate did not have PhD certificate at the time of his application.
“We observe that some of your political officeholders are deceptive, who has nothing to loose knowing the bulk stops on your table, and we want you to independently investigate whether it is true that a candidate can present a document not in tandem with the advertorial requirements and still be considered.”
Our correspondent learnt that the vacancy advert was published on May 17, 2023 in one of the dailies, and the tequirements for the position applications were well spelt out.
“Your Excellency, the reason you cancelled the first exercise which was transparent and credible was because those who were in the helms of affairs in education sector were not upright by claiming that the school council did not follow due process.”
The group further appealed to Governor Abiodun to urgently order for independent enquiry into the claims.
