A petrol-laden tanker has exploded, resulting in an inferno at Ajayi Farm Bus-Stop along the Alagbole-Akute Road in Ogun State, according to a report by 1stNews.
Witnesses reported that the incident occurred very early on Saturday morning, March 6, at the retail station of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in the border Ogun State community.
The tanker, which had come to the NNPC facility to supply petrol, exploded while discharging its contents.
In a bid to prevent the inferno from causing more damage, the driver was said to have jumped into the truck and moved it to the road away from the fuel station, where the tanker exploded moments later.
Witnesses said the fire started about 6:50 am while the firefighters were immediately contacted.
The fire fighters arrived at the scene about 7:23 am.
Although the cause of the fire had yet to be ascertained as of press time; no injury or death was recorded as a result of the incident.
The incident occurred in Akute which shares borders with Lagos.
The firefighters seen at the scene were officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
