Ogun: Customs boss mourns death of Onipokia, Oba Olaniyan

The Customs Area Controller, Ogun I Area Command, Idiroko, Olukayode Afeni, has expressed deep sorrow and shock over the transition of Oba Yisa Olaniyan, Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom in Ogun.
Afeni expressed his condolences, on behalf of the management and entire officers of the command in a message on Wednesday in Idiroko.
The message was signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Zakari Chado, and made available to newsmen.
​Afeni said that the late revered monarch was a pillar of peace, a custodian of rich cultural heritage and a champion of communal harmony.
He added that throughout his purposeful reign, he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the development of the Ipokia kingdom and Ogun State at large.
​Reflecting on the loss, Afeni stated that ”we have lost a father, a wise counselor and a critical stakeholder in our efforts to maintain border security and economic stability in the region.”

He noted that the late monarch played a pivotal role in fostering mutual understanding and synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service and the people of Ipokia, adding that his passing has left a huge void that will be difficult to fill.
​”The command extends its deepest sympathies to the immediate royal family, ​the Ipokia Traditional Council, and ​the entire law abiding citizens of Ipokia Kingdom.
​”We pray that the Almighty grants the royal family and the people of Ipokia the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and may the soul of the departed monarch rest in perfect peace,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that late traditonal leader, Oba Olaniyan, died on June 27.
