OBJ, Makinde, Oyedepo celebrate Wale Oke on 70th birthday anniversary

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Gov Seyi Makinde and Bishop David Oyedepo, on Tuesday, gathered at the Cornerstone City, Ibadan, to celebrate Archbishop Wale Oke, on his 70 birthday anniversary and 50 years in ministry.

In his remarks at the event, Obasanjo congratulated Oke, founder of the Sword of the Spirit Ministry, on attaining the milestone age of 70.

He described the occasion as one of thanksgiving and urged everyone present to appreciate God for Oke’s life and ministry.

“This is a thanksgiving service, and you have every reason to give thanks to God,” Obasanjo said.

Also, Makinde said that the prayers and support of Oke for his administration counted greatly and was instrumental to the progress recorded in Oyo State.

He commended Oke for being a patriotic Nigerian and a religious leader committed to community and national development.

The governor added that Oke, who is also the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), had spent decades making an immeasurable impact on humanity.

“I would like to say on this platinum anniversary of your birthday that we wish you the very best.

 

“I can only say that the years ahead will be even more impactful than the years that have gone by,” Makinde stated.

In his sermon, Bishop Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, described the existence of man as a gift from God.

He said that people must always offer genuine thanksgiving to God in order to preserve and sustain their blessings.

Oyedepo further said that those who fail to give sincere thanks to God would not be able to fully access the fullness of His goodness in their lives.

In his response, Oke reaffirmed his commitment to the work of God and to praying for Nigeria and its leaders.

He expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life and appreciated former President Obasanjo, Gov. Makinde and all the guests for honouring him.

The event featured praise and worship sessions, as well as special prayers for the celebrator, the church, Oyo State and Nigeria.

Among other dignitaries in attendance were Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State and former Military Governor of Oyo State, Retired Maj.- Gen. Oladayo Popoola.
