Obi’s aircraft misleading photograph can’t be used as “proof” of bias, ANAP carpets mischief makers

ANAP foundation has taken a swipe at elements who sought to discredit the authenticity of its opinion polls by using an aircraft photograph as “proof” of bias.

Reacting to a photograph, which is now a social media sensation, ANAP, in a press release, clarified that Mr Peter Obi was in Owerri on Thursday, but he did not fly with ANAP Jets aircraft but actually flew with a commercial airline instead.

Setting the record straight, the foundation said a prominent Nigerian family chartered the Anap Jets aircraft and flew into Owerri with a casket from Lagos on Thursday in order to prepare for final burial rights of their family member, contrary to the misrepresentation that was being peddled on the social media.

The Foundation further explained that, ANAP Jets aircraft landed and was parking at Owerri Airport, while Peter Obi who had arrived Owerri on a commercial flight innocently happened to be walking away from Owerri Airport with his contingent.

According to ANAP, in one of many photographs taken of Peter Obi at the Owerri Airport, the arriving Anap Jets aircraft appeared in the background innocuously, unfortunately the photograph has then been used to misguide and hoodwink unsuspecting and gullible Nigerians.

Recall, the foundation had published two polls in September and December 2022 showing the Labour Party candidate, Mr Peter Obi as the most favourable candidate.

In the latest poll of February 2023, 21 per cent of participants said they have decided to vote Mr Obi of the Labour Party, over 13 per cent who said they would vote Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress, and 10 per cent in favour of Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

“It has come to our attention that a photograph of Presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi with an Anap Jets aircraft in the background at Owerri Airport is circulating on the internet.

“We seek to set the records straight, as some desperate people attempt to discredit the authenticity of Anap Foundation’s opinion polls by using an aircraft photograph as “proof” of bias.

“All our Polls are carried out by NOI Polls Limited, who are an independent organisation that we have commissioned to carry out Presidential & Governorship Polls since 2011. They have never shown bias in any way, shape or form towards Peter Obi or any other candidate since 2011.

“Futhermore, Peter Obi did not even fly to Owerri in the Anap Jets Air in the said photograph below. In reality, a well known and distinguished Nigerian family flew into Owerri with a Casket from Lagos yesterday for final burial rights of their loved one. A broker chartered the Anap Jets aircraft on the family’s behalf.

“As the Anap Jets aircraft landed and was parking at Owerri Airport, Peter Obi who had arrived Owerri on a Commercial flight happened to be walking away from Owerri Airport with his contingent.
