Peter Obi has called on Muslims across Nigeria to mark Eid-el-Kabir with prayers and renewed hope for a better country.
In a Sallah message posted on his X account, the 2027 presidential hopeful described the festival as a reminder of faith, sacrifice, obedience to God, compassion, and love for humanity. He urged Nigerians to focus their prayers on unity and hope during the celebration.
Obi said the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir highlight the importance of selflessness, tolerance, and dedication to the common good. He noted that these values are critical as Nigeria navigates a defining period in its history.
“Nigeria possesses immense potential, yet it is currently burdened by avoidable challenges,” Obi said. “The essence of Eid-el-Kabir reinforces the belief that fulfilment follows sacrifice. We must maintain our hope in the realisation of a functional, just, and productive nation where every citizen is included.”
He asked Nigerians to pray for security personnel on the frontlines, for wisdom for leaders, and for economic relief for citizens facing hardship. Obi also called for a renewed commitment to peace, mutual respect, and unity among different faiths and regions.
