Former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, and his Kano State counterpart, Musa Kwankwaso, have formally joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Obi, who was the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), and Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), received the NDC membership cards amid cheers from supporters, shortly after a closed-door meeting with leaders of the NDC on Sunday evening, May 3, 2026.
The two leaders, who defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), were welcomed into the party by a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, who is also the national leader of the party.
‎‎This comes amid ongoing political realignments among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections. (Channels TV)
